Crappy New Year!

Ok, it really wasn't crappy. I had a great time - went to Irena's house for New Year's Eve and then had people over on New Year's Day for dinner, poker and a LOT of wine. However, the cold I've been fighting for about a week just escalated its attack and I found myself in a small bunker, surrounded by the enemy... OK I took that metaphor too far... but I'm sick, ok?

So I called in sick, taking advantage of my company's new sick day policy on the very day it kicks in! Go me ... I've spent the day sleeping, snuggling with the dogs, breaking into that emergency supply of anti-biotics that the doctor had given me when I went to South Africa last year. I'm feeling better already and I've got about 6 hours of "Monk" on TIVO to keep me entertained.

2006 was a good year, with a really crappy ending. My friend Rich was in a terrible car accident about a month ago and it feels like we're all still holding our breath as we wait to see how well his brain recovers. But he's making progress and continues to exceed expectations of his therapists. Christian got to see him this weekend - I stayed home because I was sick. We're glad he's alive and there's a lot of hope. We're still holding our breath though.

OK, now I've depressed myself and need to nap. 2007 will be a good year too, I am sure.
