Nobody. Never. Ever. Use. Sears. Again.

Unbelieveable! After waiting until THREE O'CLOCK today, the repair guy finally showed up, took one look at the part and said that it was a two-person job and he couldn't do it alone. The computer had not told him what part was being installed. So they had to reschedule AGAIN.

The poor repair guy was really nice and it wasn't his fault but I am so pissed off with Sears. I just sent them another nasty email, not that it will do any good. The last one didn't. I am never buying from Sears again. Just ridiculous.

The good news is that I took the opportunity to clean house while I was home so the house is in great shape now :) I'm still pissed off though. Argh.

Christian should be home shortly - his flight is supposed to be arriving any minute now, actually. It'll be good to have him home and since he apparently acquired a cough while he was away, I'm sure he'll be happy to get home too.

(In case you were wondering, yes, still pissed).

Stupid service people

A few weeks ago, our washing machine died. Well, it didn't really die, it started spewing water out every time we washed clothes at a speed higher than "Rocks in River." It made for lots of fun and flooding. We were pretty annoyed because this was a brand new washing machine that we had bought at Sears just a few months ago and so we really weren't expecting it to start puking quite this fast. Luckily, we had allowed ourselves to get talked into the extended warranty so service on it was covered. Turns out it needed a new part - that rubber thingy on the rim of the washer (that's exactly what the service guy called it, I swear!) has a leak. So they sent us a new part (1 week, 3 inches of water) and we called to schedule an appointment.

When C called, the nice automated voice gave him a date and time (Friday, between 8 am and 4 pm). So I took the day off and patiently waited. Around 3, I decided to give them a call and see what was up. Of course, they had no record of the appointment. Yelling and screaming at them was ineffective, although I definitely tried. So they rescheduled for today, Saturday. I did get a confirmation call last night and when I called, the nice automated voice said that someone would be out today between 8 am and 4 pm but somehow, my confidence level isn't high.

Plus, it's a beautiful day and I'm pissed that I have to wait around all day for this guy.

I'm taking the opportunity to do some spring cleaning... OK, Fall cleaning, I guess. But the fact that I've got to keep the dogs inside isn't really helping the dog pee smell that I am trying to get rid of...

Christian gets home today from Spain. He texted me late last night to let me know he made the flight (first class - woo hoo!) and that he was sick. Apparently, it got cold in Spain, or at least chilly, the last night he was there and he was out at the Alhambra for the Loreena McKennitt concert with no sweater or jacket or anything.

So I guess he'll be miserable when he gets home today. Fun fun fun :) Either way, it'll be good to have him back for a while, just in time for me to leave on Thursday!

Ok, I suppose I should get back to the cleaning...

Obligatory September 11 post

Lots going on so I thought I'd post a quick one. It's the 5th anniversary of September 11 and I don't really have anything to say that hasn't already been said by others, and better. I'm glad that they've finally decided what they're going to do with the memorial - I hope it gets built quicker now.

I'm watching last week's Stargate Atlantis. I have to say I'm not really impressed with this season - they seem to have stolen a lot of ideas from other shows. A real shame, since SG-1 just got cancelled and if this is my only Stargate fix, I hope it gets a bit more original soon. This episode was the old 'parallel universe' one - another McCay showed up and was better, kinder, gentler than the one in this universe. Didn't have the usual 'I'm the real Rodney! No *I'm* the real Rodney!" but other than that, was pretty standard. I like the characters a lot, I just wish we got some better storylines. Maybe they'll start switching things up soon.

As I type this, Christian is jetting off to Spain (business class, no less). He's been personally invited by Loreena McKennitt to go to the shows she is doing over there. I'd have killed to go with him but work and my own travel schedule did not allow it. So I am jealous but I get to jet off to South Africa next week sometime (if all goes well) so there is that...

I get quality time with the puppies for a week but considering I'm going to be gone for 4 weeks, I can't really complain! So my goal is to get as much done as I can work-wise, before I leave, and kick this stupid cold that's been bugging me since last week.

Off I go...
